WInd causes downed trees, power lines and electric outages

Tuesday brought a challenging mixture of weather to the local area. The early morning hours saw freezing rain, which resulted in icy roads and school closings. The later afternoon and evening saw high winds, rain and thunder. Approximately 600 members of Midwest Electric lost power due to downed power lines and trees. Midwest reported the customer were primarily in the Franklin Township area. A tree was reported down on Karafit Road near State Route 219. Crews were kept busy working to restore power. There were no reported injuries from the weather. Stay tuned for further updates.
