AUTHORITIES SAY 22 DOGS WERE FOUND DEAD IN A DITCH, AND THEY HAVE FEW CLUES ABOUT HOW OR WHY THE ANIMALS ENDED UP THERE

IN FAR NORTHEAST OHIO.....AUTHORITIES SAY 22 DOGS WERE FOUND DEAD IN A DITCH, AND THEY HAVE FEW CLUES ABOUT HOW OR WHY THE ANIMALS ENDED UP THERE.  THE ASHTABULA COUNTY DOG WARDEN RECEIVED A CALL MONDAY THAT SEVERAL DECEASED DOGS WERE FOUND OFF A SECLUDED ROAD IN CHERRY VALLEY TOWNSHIP. TAMMY DONDORFER, ANIMAL WELFARE DIRECTOR AT THE ASHTABULA ANIMAL PROTECTIVE LEAGUE, SAYS THE DOGS RANGED IN AGE FROM 10 WEEKS TO SIX YEARS OLD. SHE SAYS THEY WERE ALL A POODLE-MIX AND APPEARED TO BE RELATED, AND ONE WAS PREGNANT. IT WASN'T IMMEDIATELY CLEAR HOW THE DOGS DIED. FOUR WERE SENT TO A VETERINARIAN TO BE TESTED FOR POSSIBLE POISONS, AND THE OTHERS WERE CREMATED. EXAMINATIONS WILL BE PERFORMED TO HELP DETERMINE WHO DISPOSED OF THEM.
