OHIO'S CONSITUTION SAYS "THERE SHALL BE NO SLAVERY IN THIS STATE; NOR INVOLUNTARY SERVITUDE, UNLESS FOR THE PUNISHMENT OF CRIME." THE EXCEPTION, WRITTEN LONG AGO, HAS SOME STATE LAWMAKERS WORKING TOWARD CREATING A STATEWIDE VOTE TO GET RID OF IT. WHILE IT SOUNDS LIKE AN IDEA AS OLD AS THE PARCHMENT THOSE WORDS WERE WRITTEN ON, THE OHIO LEGISLATIVE BLACK CAUSUS IS CALLING FOR THE REMOVAL OF THE SIX WORDS SLAVERY EXCEPTION FROM THE STATE'S CONSTITUION  REPRESENTATIVE EMILIA SYKES SAYS PRIVATE COMPANIES ARE CURRENTLY ABLE TO PROFIT OFF LABOR PROVIDED BY PRISONERS...
