Hometown: Celina, Ohio Education: 1963 Graduate of Celina High School; Completed two terms of Business Administration and Finance Course at International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Graduated from US Army Clerical School at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Graduated from US Army Medical Records and Reports School at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Graduated from the Logan County Law Enforcement Training Academy, and attended many additional Law Enforcement and Court related Seminars over the past 40 years. Active Military Service: US Army 1964-1966 Full-time Employment: Current Mercer County Clerk of Courts (Became the first Elected Official in the history of Mercer County to be elected nine times to a four-year term of office in November 2008.) Previous Employment: The Reynolds and Reynolds Company in Celina (3 years); Mercer County Deputy Sheriff (8 years) Started Broadcasting at WCSM: April 1, 1981 Created the Weekly Country Leisure Hour, later becoming the Weekly Country Leisure Show (now four hours) (for many years it was a five hour show) Hobbies and/or Interests: My night to howl on WCSM FM: Sunday from 7:00 to 11:00 PM Hosting The Weekly Country Leisure Show I enjoy having local amateur entertainers on my show, as well as professional entertainers. Currently manage the career of Elvis Aaron Presley, Jr. (The Actual Son of the late Elvis Presley) Favorite Sports Teams: Ohio State Buckeyes (Of Course!!); Indianapolis Colts; Cleveland Indians; Cincinnati Reds; Pitsburgh Steelers; NASCAR #24 Jeff Gordon Favorite Artist and/or Group: Elvis Aaron Presley, Jr.; the late Jimmy ORION Ellis; Loretta Lynn; Alabama; The Statler Brothers; the late Conway Twitty; the late Wilburn Brothers (My first live interview on WCSM Radio, April 1st, 1981); Mickey Gilley; and the list goes on and on. I like most country artists; however, I lean toward Classic Country (the Oldies). I am also very fond of the 50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll. Major Turn Off: Songs that you can’t understand the words to due to the background noise of so-called music! People Who Have Influenced Me: My parents, the late Orville and Leona Highley; my sister Betty Powell and her husband Jerry; my brother Bob Highley and his wife Pat; my wife Georgia, my sons Todd and Troy, my grandsons Spencer and Blaze; the late High School Principal Robert Brandon; US Army Colonel Robert Kealey; the late Sheriff W.C. Most Exciting Memories: My First Radio Show – April 1, 1981; Hot Air Balloon Ride; Parachute Jump; Backseat ride in a World War II fighter plane during an Air Show; 180 mph ride in NASCAR #55 Napa Car; Meeting numerous celebrities; and above all....winning my elections so that I could get back on the radio!
