Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award

 

 

OHA’s Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award is presented each year to one Ohio caregiver who personifies leadership, motivates colleagues, influences others, provides valuable service, exemplifies the mission, vision and values of their organization, and has an impact in their community. Dr. Edward Hosbach II, primary care provider at Mercer Health Medical Group in Ft. Recovery and St. Henry, has been nominated for the 2024 Health Care Worker of the Year Award. 

 

His nomination read, “Dr. Hosbach is recognized by peers for his commitment to the profession, by his community for his dedicated service and by his patients as a genuine, compassionate caregiver. In addition to his practices in Ft. Recovery and St. Henry, Dr. Hosbach has served as Chief Medical Officer for EverHeart Hospice for the past 33 years, team doctor for Fort Recovery and St. Henry high schools, and a board member for the Mercer County Health District. He is an active member and past president of the Ohio ACOFP (American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians). In 2022, Dr. Hosbach was awarded the Ohio ACOFP Distinguished Service Award and was inducted into the Fort Recovery community “Hall of Fame” for his service to the Fort Recovery community. A patient of Dr. Hosbach summarizes by saying, “He has a big, joyful heart.”

 

Additionally, for many years, Dr. Hosbach returned to his alma mater at Ohio University to provide OMT (osteopathic manipulative treatment) training sessions for medical students and served as an instructor for joint injection workshops at the ACOFP annual convention for 13 years. He has served as Chief of Staff at Mercer Health for several terms in addition to many other committees at Mercer Health.

 

Outside of healthcare, Dr. Hosbach is recognized as pillar in the community, which was officially acknowledged when he was inducted into the Fort Recovery "Hall of Fame" for his service in the Fort Recovery community, including, volunteering his time with the Fort Recovery Athletic Department, Fort Recovery Chamber of Commerce, Fort Recovery Friends of the Arts, Fort Recovery Historical Society and many other organizations. Dr. Hosbach shared, "There are many opportunities to positively impact the community in a rural area." In addition to volunteering his time, he is known throughout the community for writing humor and performing humor, most notably in his famous "Top 10" lists which have covered topics from A to Z.

 

Dr. Jonathan Winner said of Dr. Hosbach, “Dr. Hosbach has been loyal to his practice, Mercer Health, and all patients he has served over the years."
