Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred yesterday, May 20, 2024.  Mercer County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call at 2:19 PM of a traffic crash on St Rte 29, east of Fleetfoot Rd in Jefferson Township.

The investigation revealed that Wesley Greber (16) of Celina, OH was driving a 2016 black Ford Focus, traveling westbound on St Rte 29.  Gurpreet Puaar (36) of Fresno, CA was traveling eastbound in a 2020 red Kenworth semi-tractor and trailer.  For an unknown reason, Greber traveled left of center into the eastbound lane, striking Puaar.  Puaar refused treatment at the scene.   Greber was transported by Celina Squad 6 to Mercer Health ER for treatment.  Benjamin Ly (14), of Celina, OH was a front seat passenger in Gerber’s car and was air lifted from the scene by Lutheran Air and transported to Dayton Children’s Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Assisting at the scene were members of the Celina Fire Department, Celina EMS Squad 2 and Squad 6, Lutheran Air, Mercer County EMA, MCERV, and Ohio Motor Carrier Enforcement.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team was called to the scene.  This crash remains under investigation at this time and will be forwarded to the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office for review when completed.
