Mercer County Sheriff's deputy Chad Etzler awarded a life saving award

From the Mercer County Sheriff's Office:

It is with great honor that we announce that Corrections Officer, Deputy Chad Etzler, has been awarded a Life Saving Award for his actions that helped save the life of a child.
On the evening of April 21st, Deputy Etzler was at home after completing his shift when his neighbor ran over begging for help. The neighbor indicated that his infant child might be choking, so Deputy Etzler rendered first aide to the child, performing CPR until EMS had arrived. Paramedics continued the care and transported the child to a nearby hospital. It was later determined by medical staff that the baby had not been choking, but rather was suffering from an episode related to SIDS – Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. The early interventions by Deputy Etzler were critical in reviving the child. “Thanks to the quick thinking and actions by Chad, that child’s life was saved,” stated Sheriff Doug Timmerman.
The entire staff of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is incredibly proud of Deputy Etzler and truly believe that the child is alive today because of his actions!
