Celina, OH – Mercer County Sheriff Doug Timmerman announced today that his office will be participating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) national Click It or Ticket high-visibility enforcement effort and will have extra deputies patrolling Mercer County from May 19^th to May 31^st.

With it being the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Sheriff Timmerman reminds motorists that area roadways will be more heavily traveled and to drive safely by always wearing your seatbelts. The extra deputies will be assigned to specific areas throughout Mercer County to have an increase visibility. Deputies will be targeting seatbelts usage, but will also be looking out for unsafe driving, drunk driving, and distracted driving. The purpose of this is to reduce traffic crashes, and identify unsafe driving in Mercer County.
