On Thursday, August 21, 2025, at approximately 3:43am, Darke County Sheriff Deputies, along with Ansonia Fire and Rescue, responded to the 11000 block of State Route 49 North reference a vehicle crash with injuries. Investigation revealed a 2001 Honda Civic, driven by Kyle Lecompte, 30, of Rockford, OH, was traveling Southbound on State Route 49 North when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway, before striking a pole, causing the vehicle to split into two pieces. The front of the vehicle, where Lecompte was sitting, continued into a bean-field with the rear of the vehicle re-entering the roadway, both coming to rest. Lecompte was transported to Wayne Healthcare where he’s being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Lecompte presented signs of alcohol impairment on the scene and was ultimately issued a citation for operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and failure to control a motor vehicle.

This case remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
