ST. MARYS – The City of St. Marys will begin delivering toters to retained customers outside the city limits starting on Monday, October 6. Toters should be delivered on the day of the customer’s regularly scheduled refuse collection. For example, Monday’s customers should receive their toters on Monday and so on throughout the week. Toters may be delivered earlier as well. If a customer outside of the city limits discontinues the city’s refuse service, the toter must be returned to the city.
As a reminder, there will be no tags needed for the new system, but trash needs to be in bags. No loose household trash can be deposited into the toters. No construction debris or tires are to be placed inside the toters. Construction debris, and other special items, can be collected by arranging for a special pick up. Lithium ion batteries should not be placed in household trash. Lithium ion batteries pose a significant fire risk if placed into household trash that is collected with the refuse trucks. Lithium ion batteries can be dropped off at the Auglaize County Recycling Center on River Road during normal business hours. The cost to dispose of the batteries is $2 per pound.
