The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a criminal complaint against a Rockford man accused of sexually assaulting a minor.
According to court records, 20-year-old Jonathan Adkins Jr. was charged Friday with first-degree felony rape for an alleged incident that investigators say happened in late August.
The complaint states the alleged victim is under the age of 13.
Adkins was formally charged and the case will proceed through the court system.
Authorities have not released additional details, and the investigation remains ongoing. Adkins is being held in the Mercer County Jail. Court records show prosecutors have asked for a $500,000 bond.
