Fort Recovery Board Reviews Financial Forecast, Facility Planning

FORT RECOVERY — The Fort Recovery Local Schools Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting Monday, October 13th, in the high school community room.

Superintendent Tony Stahl said the meeting focused heavily on the district’s financial outlook and long-term planning.

District Treasurer Deanna Knapke presented the updated five-year financial forecast, noting a decrease in revenue tied to lower income tax collections and reduced state funding. Stahl said this trend reflects what’s being seen across Ohio as legislators continue to shift more of the school funding burden onto local sources.

“We’re monitoring these changes closely and will continue to keep our community informed,” Stahl said. “Our goal is to maintain strong, stable operations while planning responsibly for the future.”

The board also reviewed a proposed community reinvestment area with village administrators, which could create local tax exemptions to encourage development. Other business included the hiring of several winter volunteer coaches, approval of the district’s gifted policy for the school year, and authorization to partner with an architectural and engineering firm to begin evaluating potential facility needs.

A copy of the district’s financial statements, the updated forecast, and meeting minutes are available on the Fort Recovery Schools website.

The next Board of Education meeting will take place Monday, November 17th at 6:30 p.m. in the high school community room.
