Marion Local Board of Education Reviews Financial Forecast, Approves New Coaches and Facility Projects

The Marion Local Board of Education met this week and approved several staffing and district updates. The board hired Danielle Hartke and Johnson Smith as co-head swim coaches and Jody Kramer as assistant coach. Multiple van-certified drivers were approved for the school year, along with Mary Lou Bruns as a classified substitute and Ava Unrast and Abby Moorman as volunteers for the girls’ basketball program.

The board approved an AgScience field trip to the National FFA Convention and accepted a $370 donation from MVP Sports & More for junior high cheerleaders.

Members also approved a utility easement with the Village of Chickasaw, an energy agreement extension through 2028 with IGS Energy, and heard updates from Technology Coordinator Michelle Mescher on improving cybersecurity in the district.

Principals Tim Goodwin and Kelly Thobe praised students for recent successes in band and junior high sports, while Treasurer Ryan Goldsmith presented the district’s five-year financial forecast and discussed upcoming property tax legislation.

Superintendent Mike Pullman recognized October as National Principal Appreciation Month and shared updates on ongoing facility projects.

The next Marion Local Board of Education meeting will be held Monday, November 10th at 7 p.m.
