New Bremen Board of Education Accepts Longtime Staff Resignations, Moves Forward on Track Project

The New Bremen Board of Education met this week and accepted the resignation of teacher and bus driver Mike Hiker, who has served the district for 32 years as a teacher and 29 years as a bus driver. The board also accepted the retirement resignation of custodian Helen Mader, recognizing her 33 years of service to the district.

Board members approved several supplemental coaching contracts, including Jonah Lochman for freshman boys basketball and Chloe Homan for eighth-grade girls basketball.

Fall and winter sports volunteers were also approved:

  • Cheer: Rhonda Beck and Mindy Thobw

  • High school boys basketball: Jeff Kenning

  • Junior high boys basketball: Bart Suchland

Substitute bus drivers for the 2025–26 school year include Brad Kraft and Ben Borger.
The board also named winter parent representatives — Amanda Kenning and Dana Bornhorst for girls basketball, and Lindsey Quellhorst for boys basketball.

A revision to a supplemental contract was approved for Brian Patch, moving him from varsity assistant girls basketball coach to reserve girls basketball coach.

Board members also approved a utility easement with the Village of New Bremen for electric service along Kettler Road and passed a resolution authorizing an agreement for the track installation project, not to exceed $990,000.

The second phase of the track and stadium project will go out to bid October 21, with bids due November 11. The board expects to consider those bids at its November meeting.

The meeting concluded with an executive session, with no action taken afterward.
