Minster Council Advances Solid Waste Plan, Awards Sidewalk Project Bid, and Approves Trail Agreement

Minster Village Administrator Don Harrod says council covered several key items during Tuesday night’s meeting.

Council gave a second reading to an ordinance approving the Auglaize County Solid Waste Management Plan update — with members saying the plan looked good and raised no concerns for the village.

Council also approved a bid for the 2025–2026 Sidewalk Repair and Replacement Project. D.L. Smith Concrete of Norwalk was the low bidder at just under $138,000 — well below the original engineer’s estimate of more than $213,000. Work is expected to begin later this year and wrap up by June of 2026.

In other action, council approved a resolution allowing the Auglaize County Engineer’s Office to handle street address assignments for new properties in Minster — part of a countywide effort to improve 911 system accuracy.

Council also passed an ordinance to enter into a risk management agreement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The agreement allows the village to develop and maintain a multi-use trail along the canal towpath from First Street to State Route 66 — the first step toward a future trail connecting Minster to Fort Loramie.
