Casa Rodriguez to close after more than four decades in Celina

CELINA — After 44 years serving Mexican cuisine and community spirit in Celina, Casa Rodriguez has announced it will close its doors for good on Wednesday, December 31.

The family-owned restaurant shared the news in a heartfelt message reflecting on its history and legacy. Casa Rodriguez began as a dream “written on a slip of paper and tucked into my mother’s Bible,” the message read. From that dream, the restaurant grew into a local landmark known for good food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Over the years, Casa Rodriguez weathered two recessions, a pandemic, and the loss of its founder. It became more than a place to eat — it was a gathering spot where families celebrated milestones, friendships formed, and memories were made.

“We have fed the hungry, supported local causes, and served as a gathering place where plans were made and life unfolded,” the statement said.

The owners thanked current and former employees, customers, and the Celina community for their support throughout the decades.

“Thank you for your patronage, for loving our food, and for the friendships that grew within these walls,” the family wrote. “We hope Casa Rodriguez leaves you with fond memories—of meals shared, laughter echoed, and moments treasured—in the place we have called our second home since February of 1981.”

Casa Rodriguez began as a dream—written on a slip of paper and tucked into my mother’s Bible. My parents wanted a small restaurant where families and friends could enjoy a good Mexican meal and feel welcomed.
Over the years, Casa survived two recessions, a pandemic, and the loss of its founder. Thousands of people walked through our doors to share meals, laughter, and moments that became lifelong memories. We have employed hundreds—family, friends, and those simply needing a place to start. We have fed the hungry, supported local causes, and served as a gathering place where plans were made and life unfolded.
We have celebrated births, weddings, anniversaries, and milestones of every kind. And we have mourned the loss of friends, customers, and loved ones who will always hold a place in our hearts. To every employee who has shared part of their life with us—whether for years or for only a short while—thank you. Each of you helped shape Casa into what it became.
There were many who believed in my mother’s dream, and we are forever grateful for the relationships built and the unwavering support shown to our family throughout the years.
Due to the changing economic environment, we have decided to close our doors on Wednesday, December 31. Please be patient with us as we navigate this process.
Thank you for your patronage, for loving our food, and for the friendships that grew within these walls. We hope Casa Rodriguez leaves you with fond memories—of meals shared, laughter echoed, and moments treasured—in the place we have called our second home since February of 1981.
