Rhode Island Man Indicted in Mercer County for Baseball Field and Property Damage

CELINA, OH — A Mercer County Grand Jury has indicted Kevin E. Evers, age 33, of North Smithfield, Rhode Island, in connection with a string of property damage incidents that occurred on or about August 10, 2025.

According to court documents filed August 21, 2025, Evers faces three counts stemming from damage caused to public and private property:

  • Count 1: Vandalism (Fifth-Degree Felony) — prosecutors allege Evers knowingly caused serious physical harm to a baseball field owned or controlled by a government entity.

  • Count 2: Criminal Mischief (Third-Degree Misdemeanor) — Evers is accused of damaging a private lawn, including grass and sod.

  • Count 3: Criminal Mischief (Third-Degree Misdemeanor) — a separate charge tied to alleged damage of a soybean field.

All three counts are violations of the Ohio Revised Code and are alleged to have been committed within Mercer County.

Evers’ case will proceed in the Mercer County Court of Common Pleas in Celina.
