St. Henry School Board Recognizes Cross Country Team, Approves Donations and Policy Updates

The St. Henry Local Schools Board of Education met for its November meeting in the high school media center, where Superintendent Adam Puthoff highlighted student achievements, community support, and upcoming district events.

The meeting began with recognition of the boys’ cross-country team, which finished 9th in the Division IV state competition. Puthoff congratulated Coach Wendell and the athletes for representing the school and community with pride.

Members of the FFA chapter also presented on their recent trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, sharing experiences and opportunities gained from attending.

Puthoff thanked the community for its continued engagement in school activities and noted that such involvement helps maintain the district’s strong sense of local control. He also discussed countywide collaboration on property tax advocacy, emphasizing that new newsletters and social media posts will help residents understand how local tax dollars support schools.

The board approved several donations, including $200 from Red Connect to the middle school principal’s account, $1,000 from Jim Dippold and the Mercer County Civic Foundation to the high school student council, and $200 from Hopewell Grange to the elementary library.

Other board actions included approving a one-year limited contract for Denise Froning, a supplemental coaching contract for Shawn Tiemann as freshman girls basketball coach, and FMLA leave for Cheryl Wilson. The board also approved an $11 per hour minimum wage effective Jan. 1, 2026, and adopted revised 403B and 457 plan documents.

Puthoff reminded residents that the annual Senior Citizens Breakfast will take place Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 8:30 a.m. in the high school commons.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. in the high school media center.
