SHELBY COUNTY, Ohio — One person was killed and another was seriously injured Saturday after the SUV they were in crashed while fleeing from law enforcement officers in Shelby County. The crash occurred at 4 p.m. — about ten minutes after the chase began — in the 5,000 block of Cardo Road, west of Dawson Road, in Cynthian Township.

Sidney Police were alerted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol that a vehicle wanted in connection with a BOLO (be on the lookout) for armed robbery and felonious assault out of Montgomery County was spotted by a Flock camera in the city. At about 3:50 p.m., a Sidney Police officer spotted a vehicle — a 2021 Dodge Durango — at the Clark Gas Station on West Michigan Street. The officer attempted to stop the SUV as it pulled away from the gas station; however, the driver accelerated away at a high rate of speed west on Michigan Street (State Route 47) through a busy business area.

As the Durango continued west on Route 47, the driver, identified as Tre' Sean L. Clemons, 25, of Kettering, Ohio, reached speeds of 120 miles per hour. He then traveled north on Cecil Road at speeds of 90 miles per hour before turning back west on Cardo Road. The vehicle went off the left side of the road and rolled multiple times, ejecting Clemons before coming to rest in a field.

Despite life-saving measures by law enforcement and EMS crews, Clemons was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Aaliyah Davis, 19, of Piqua, Ohio, suffered serious injuries and was flown from the scene by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

The incident remains under investigation by the Sidney Police Department, with the crash investigation being handled by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Fort Loramie Community Fire Company, and Fort Loramie Rescue also assisted at the scene.
