St. Henry wins the 37th annual Mercer Savings Bank MAC Scholastic Bowl held at the Mercer County Educational Service Center

ST. HENRY WINS THE 37th ANNUAL MERCER SAVINGS BANK

 MAC SCHOLASTIC BOWL HELD AT THE MERCER COUNTY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE CENTER

 

The 2025-2026 Mercer Savings Bank MAC Varsity Scholastic Bowl was hosted by the Mercer County Educational Service Center in Celina on November 17, 2025.  The thirty-seventh annual tournament was sponsored by Mercer Savings Bank and coordinated by Wendi Moorman & Jessica Niekamp from Mercer County ESC.  Students competed by providing answers to questions in all subject areas.  

 

The MAC Scholastic League is a program that promotes academic recognition. The league includes the Midwest Athletic Conference Schools of Coldwater, Fort Recovery, Marion Local, Minster, New Bremen, New Knoxville, Parkway, St. Henry, and Versailles. Celina participated this year as well.  The League consists of 9 weekly matches, all leading up to the Scholastic Bowl.  This year, Parkway won the league play with a total of 9 wins, followed by Marion Local with 8 wins, and Fort Recovery and St. Henry tying for 3rd place with 6 wins each. 

 

Janelle Braun and Lydia Miller, representing the Mercer Savings Bank, presented prize money to the top five scholastic teams. The St. Henry High School Team, coached by Tom Marchal, won first place and received a $300 award.  Team members participating in the bowl are: Mara Bruggeman, Brady Dues, Daniel Fullenkamp, Evan Heitkamp, Vince Lochtefeld, Hector Pineda, and Ben Wenning.

 

The second-place award of $250 went to the Marion Local High School team, coached by Paula Hemmelgarn.  The Parkway High School team, coached by Maggie Houts and Anita Morton, placed third and received the $200 award.  The Fort Recovery High School team, coached by Marcia Weigel, took the fourth-place award of $150, and the New Knoxville High School team, coached by Scott Bayless, placed fifth and received $100.
