The Village of Mendon is kicking off its 25th Annual Festival of Trees and Christmas Walk this Friday night, launching a full weekend of holiday events, decorations, and family activities throughout the community.
From 6 to 9 p.m., visitors can tour more than 85 decorated Christmas trees inside the historic Mendon Town Hall. Carolers will perform throughout the evening, and guests can enjoy cookies and hot cocoa as they move through the displays.
Both the First Church of God and the Mendon Community Church will also be open Friday evening with Christmas music, holiday displays, and homemade baked goods.
In addition, Mendon’s synchronized Christmas light show will run from 6 to 10 p.m., set to holiday music on 95.5 FM, giving families a chance to walk the Christmas route and take in the lights.
Organizers say Friday sets the stage for a full lineup on Saturday, when the festival opens up for families throughout the day.
Morgan, one of the event coordinators, says the afternoon brings even more to experience:
“So from 1 to 5:30 p.m., there’s going to be the Festival of Trees. And there’s also going to be, up at the First Church of God — which is one of the churches — a decorated sanctuary and a large assortment of free snacks and food.”
Saturday’s schedule also includes baked goods and free family crafts at the Mendon Community Church from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Santa will make his entrance by fire truck from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., posing for photos and greeting kids near Town Hall. Families can also enjoy free horse-drawn trolley rides from 1 to 4 p.m., offering a classic holiday ride through the village.
Both churches will offer free Christmas shopping for kids and free family pictures from 2 to 4 p.m.
Now in its 25th year, the Festival of Trees and Christmas Walk has grown into a signature holiday celebration for the community. The village invites everyone to come out, support local groups, and enjoy the small-town Christmas traditions that make the event a favorite year after year.
