Mercer Health Earns National Recognitions for Excellence in Patient Care

In 2025, Mercer Health was the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions that affirm its unwavering commitment to exceptional, community-focused healthcare. These honors reflect the dedication of Mercer Health’s staff and leadership to delivering high-quality care to the families, friends, and neighbors they serve every day.

Top Honors in Rural and Community Healthcare: Mercer Health’s Mercer County Joint Township Community Hospital has been named one of the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals in the Nation for 2025 by Chartis. This marks the hospital’s fourth recognition in five years, underscoring its consistent excellence in rural healthcare delivery. In 2024, Mercer Health was also identified as a Top 20 Rural and Community Hospital, a distinction awarded to only the highest-performing facilities nationwide.

Best-in-State Recognition by Newsweek: In another milestone, Mercer Health was named one of America’s Best-In-State Hospitals for 2025 by Newsweek and Statista. This honor places Mercer Health among the top hospitals in Ohio, alongside major institutions such as The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic. The award is based on patient satisfaction, quality metrics, and peer recommendations.

Women’s Choice Award for Emergency Care: Mercer Health’s Mercer County Community Hospital has received the 2025 Women’s Choice Award® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Emergency Care. This recognition places Mercer Health in the top 3% of hospitals nationwide for emergency services, based on rigorous standards for patient satisfaction, timely care, and clinical excellence.

Acute Heart Attack Ready Certification: Mercer Health has also been reaccredited as Acute Heart Attack Ready by The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association. This certification highlights Mercer Health’s preparedness and expertise in delivering life-saving care for heart attack patients, with protocols that meet the highest national standards.

Gold Award for Coronary Artery Disease Care: The American Heart Association has honored Mercer Health with the Get With The Guidelines®–Coronary Artery Disease Rural Recognition Gold Award, recognizing its commitment to evidence-based care and improved outcomes for patients with coronary artery disease.

Superior Performance in Home Health: Mercer Health Home Care was named a 2024 SHPBest™ “Superior Performer” for outstanding patient experience. This award reflects Mercer Health’s excellence in home health services, based on national benchmarks and patient satisfaction analytics.
