New Bremen Local Schools Superintendent Jason Schrader provided an update following the December school board meeting, where several key actions were taken ahead of the new year.
Three newly elected board members took the oath of office and will officially begin their terms on January 1, 2026. Those members are Abby Lang, Scott McCollum, and Logan O’Neill. Eric Dicke was also sworn in to complete the final two years of a term to which he was elected. The new members will join current board president Danielle Mumford as the school board transitions in January.
The board approved a change in salary placement for Natalie Hyrcko and set January 14 as the date for the district’s annual organizational meeting. Membership in the Ohio School Boards Association was also approved.
Several personnel and volunteer appointments were made, including approval of Stephen Monath as the marching band truck and trailer driver. The board also approved Jason Barhorst, Mark Sharp, Kurt Albers, and Adam Topp to serve as indoor track volunteers.
In new business, the board ratified an agreement with Bruns Building and Development for a new track project at a cost of $920,000. Construction on the project is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2026.
The board also voted to maintain board member compensation at $40 per meeting, not to exceed 24 meetings in a calendar year.
Informational items included an update on the development of the 2026–27 school calendar, which is expected to be presented for approval at the January board meeting.
Board members whose terms expire at the end of December were recognized for their service to New Bremen Local Schools and the community. Shelly Busse was honored for 12 years of service, while Michelle Bombauer and Suzanne Wells were each recognized for eight years on the board.
The board did not meet in executive session.
