NORAD Santa Tracker Goes Live as St. Nick Begins His Christmas Eve Journey

It’s Christmas Eve and for the 70th year in a row, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, better known as NORAD, has officially kicked off its beloved Santa tracking tradition.

Today, families around the world can watch St. Nick’s progress in real time at noradsanta.org or by calling the toll free hotline 1 877 HI NORAD to ask a live volunteer where Santa and his reindeer are currently flying.

The annual tracker goes live every Christmas Eve as Santa departs the North Pole, guiding his sleigh and billions of gifts across the globe. Millions of children and adults follow along on the interactive map, which shows his current location, where he’s headed next, and includes holiday themed games and festive features.

What started in 1955 because of a misprinted phone number has turned into a global Christmas Eve tradition that NORAD volunteers have kept going for seven decades.

So if you’re curious where Santa is right now, check the tracker online or give NORAD a call and join the countdown to Christmas morning.
