Marion Local board approves staff changes, sets calendar, and moves ahead on Tri Star program

The Marion Local Board of Education approved several personnel items and a wide range of district business during its Monday evening meeting, according to Superintendent Mike Pohlman.

Pohlman said the board accepted the resignation of bus driver Sherry Shainline, effective at the end of the school year.

The board also accepted the resignation of Jeff Kalp as co junior high faculty manager and the resignation of teacher Kyle Grabowski, both effective at the end of the year. In addition, the board accepted the resignation and retirement of guidance counselor Jenny Dippold, with her retirement effective November 12 of next school year.

The board also made several hires and approved volunteer appointments. Pohlman said Marsha Moeller was hired as volleyball coach and Diane Hoying was hired as a three hour dishwasher.

The board approved volunteers for the softball and baseball program. Pohlman said the board approved the school calendar for next year, a contract with Chapal Hill Preschool to rent a room for next school year, and a farm lease agreement. The board also approved multiple field trips, renewed OHSAA membership, and approved the start of a law and public safety program for Tri Star beginning next school year. The district also accepted a 500 dollar donation from MVP Sports and More to the football camp fund. In updates, Pohlman said the technology coordinator is compiling a list of equipment for the new facility. The high school principal updated the board on scheduling and eighth grade orientation. The treasurer reviewed the five year forecast, and Pohlman updated the board on the facility project. The next regular Marion Local Board of Education meeting is set for Monday, March 9.
