Storm Damage Reported Across Auglaize County After High Winds
AUGLAIZE COUNTY — Auglaize County Sheriff Mike Vorhees says high winds caused scattered damage across the county, including downed structures, debris on roadways, and knocked down power lines.
Vorhees tells WCSM the damage appears consistent with straight line winds, and the sheriff’s office has not received reports of a tornado touchdown.
Among the reported incidents, an older barn on Kohler Road was completely flattened, with debris ending up on the roadway. Vorhees also said a garage near St. Johns was damaged, with parts of it ending up in the roadway on U.S. 33.
That debris was reported on U.S. 33 between Townline Lima Road and St. Johns.
Additional storm damage was reported on Holden Line on the east side of the county, east of Waynesfield, where poles and power lines were knocked down. Vorhees said there were also reports of roof damage, trees down, and at least one tree completely blocking a roadway.
“It could have been a lot worse,” Vorhees said, adding the department is grateful the damage was not more severe.
Drivers are reminded to use caution around downed trees and debris, and to stay away from downed power lines. If you encounter a blocked roadway or hazardous conditions, report it to local authorities.
