Celina Mercer County Chamber highlights volunteer needs, fundraisers and spring events across the community

Celina Mercer County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Stacy Beougher is encouraging area residents to get involved in a wide range of community events and service opportunities taking place across Mercer County this spring.

In a weekly community update, Beougher highlighted several upcoming events, fundraisers and volunteer opportunities, beginning with a call for volunteers for EverHeart Hospice’s Camp Courage. The camp serves children ages 6 through 15 who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Those interested in volunteering can call 937-316-0003 or email trosengarden@ehhospice.org for more information.

Beougher also pointed families to a free open play event at The Shipyard on Monday, April 6, sponsored by Stammen Insurance. Children can play from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. by donating a school supply.

She also promoted the Celina Mercer County Chamber Leadership in Action class service project, a diaper and formula drive benefiting Choosing Life Pregnancy Center. Donations will be accepted through April 10, with drop-off locations including Mercer County District Library branches, the Mercer Health OB Department, the Cedar Table Café at Mercer Health, other Mercer Health locations, Peoples Bank, Chief Supermarket and the Chamber office.

Looking ahead, Beougher said downtown Celina will host its annual Chocolate Walk on Friday, April 17. Tickets are $25 per person or two for $40, with purchase information available on the Downtown Celina, Ohio Facebook page.

Other events mentioned in the update included Dinner Bell Bingo at the Celina American Legion on April 11 at 2 p.m. Proceeds from that event will support the Women’s Auxiliary. Beougher also noted that the Mercer Health 5K Challenge summer running series will begin in June, with discounted bundle registration available for those who sign up by June 20.

Beougher closed by encouraging residents to follow the Celina Mercer County Chamber on Facebook for more local updates and reminded listeners that the Chamber office will close at noon on Friday, April 3, in observance of Good Friday.
