Rockford Highlights Spring Events, Community Projects, and Utility Resolution

ROCKFORD — Rockford Clerk and Treasurer Lisa Kuhn says this Saturday will be a busy one in the village, with several community events planned throughout the day.

Kuhn said the Rockford Fire Department will hold its annual Pancake Day from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. She said the Parkway Music Boosters will also host a 5K beginning at 9 a.m. at Parkway High School. Later in the day, the Rockford Chamber will sponsor Spring Fling from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring a vendor market and car show.

She said Spring Fling will also include train rides, a petting zoo, activities at the Rockford Carnegie Library, food options, and a showcase of classic and specialty vehicles. Additional event details are available on the Rockford Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.

Kuhn also reported that village council approved payment of bills totaling $85,087.76.

She said several Rockford community projects are also underway as part of celebrations connected to America’s 250th anniversary. The Rockford American Legion is participating through its Avenue of Flags project, with more information available on the Legion’s Facebook page or at the village office.

Kuhn said the Shanes Crossing Historical Society is also sponsoring a tree planting project, with trees set to be planted at Shanes Park this fall. Information on that effort is also available online and at the village office.

In addition, Kuhn said Rockford has recently been approved to be part of the Murals Across Ohio program. She said a link on the village’s Facebook page allows residents to find Rockford and other murals across the state on an interactive map as Ohio highlights public art and community experiences in all 88 counties.

Kuhn also said council passed Resolution 02-2026, which opposes Enbridge Gas’ request to increase distribution rates and asks the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to deny that request.

She added that council also held the first reading of Ordinance 02-2026, which would establish a sanitary sewer lateral policy for the Village of Rockford.
