Marie Ann Hughes, 77, of Mount Sterling, Kentucky, and formerly of Lima, Ohio, died 4:51 A.M. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky. 

She was born January 5, 1949, in Lima, the daughter of Donald and Blenna (Beach) Mertz.

She is survived by her son, Shane (Michele) Hughes of Spencerville; her grandchildren: Jennifer (Nick) Stegaman; Daniel Hughes; Robert (Kailynn) Hughes; Daytona (Heather) Hughes; Emma Hughes; by her great-grandchildren: Caroline; Lydia; Stella; Easton; Maddox; Cash, Lilah; Ellie; Emberlynn.

She is also survived by her sister,  Rosalyn Koenigseker of South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her daughter, Shannon Hughes; by her brother, Marvin Beach, Jr.

Marie was a graduate of Lima Senior High School. She had worked at Hayes-Albion in Spencerville and retired from the Ford Motor Company Engine Plant in Lima.

Marie grew up in the Methodist Church. She enjoyed flower gardening, decorating her home and caring for her dog.

Funeral rites will be held 3:00 P.M. Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Tim Smith, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1-3 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
