Fort Recovery board reviews spring events, policy updates and celebrates five star banner
FORT RECOVERY — Fort Recovery Local Schools Superintendent Tony Stahl says the Fort Recovery Board of Education covered a wide range of year end items during its regular monthly meeting Monday night.
According to Stahl’s meeting summary, board members heard administrative updates from building principals on end of year student testing, the new hydroponics system in the middle school science class, and several upcoming spring events.
Stahl said Fort Recovery’s prom is scheduled for Friday, April 24, while graduation is set for Sunday, May 17. He said 68 seniors are currently scheduled to graduate this year.
In other business, the board approved several teaching, classified, and supplemental contracts for the 2026 through 2027 school year. The board also approved overnight field trips for the cheerleading team and FFA.
Stahl said the board also approved the first reading of several district policy updates, including policies dealing with kindergarten start age, artificial intelligence, grading, class rank, and student name, image, and likeness options. He said many of those updates are intended to comply with new Ohio law, OHSAA bylaws, and guidance from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
The board also took time to recognize the district’s five star banner from the 2024 through 2025 school year. Stahl said the banner was recently delivered by a Department of Education representative and called it a reflection of the hard work of students, staff, and the community.
The next Fort Recovery Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 18, at 6 p.m. in the high school community room.
