Rockford Village Highlights Upcoming Community Events And Council Action

Rockford Village Clerk and Treasurer Lisa Kuhn shared several community updates and upcoming events during the latest village report.

The Rockford American Legion and Sons of the American Legion will be placing flags on veterans’ graves at area cemeteries during the week of May 4th. Volunteers are welcome to help at Riverside Cemetery on Saturday, May 9th at 9 a.m.

The Rockford American Legion and Sons will also hold their annual barbecue chicken dinner fundraiser. The cost remains $10, and tickets are available by pre-sale only at the Rockford American Legion, Rockford Eagles, and the Rockford Village office. Chicken dinners will be provided by Birch’s Barn-to-Table.

Also on Saturday, May 9th, the 5K for the Asher fundraiser will begin at 10:30 a.m. Registration information is available online.

The next Rockford Makers Market is scheduled for Sunday, May 31st at Shane’s Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Rockford Community Days will also sponsor the Van Wert Community Band on Friday, June 12th at Shane’s Park. The patriotic celebration of music will honor America’s 250th birthday. An ice cream truck is also expected to be at the park.

Kuhn also reported that council paid bills totaling $237,288.55 and approved the financial report.

Residents are being reminded that Rockford has an exterior maintenance ordinance. Kuhn encouraged residents to review the ordinance on the village website to make sure they are in compliance.

The park manager duties and park rental agreement have also been updated and will be posted on the village website.

Council also approved Ordinance 02-2026 following its third reading. The ordinance establishes a sanitary sewer lateral policy for the Village of Rockford.
