Hicksville School Bus Crash Leaves 16 Year Old Pedestrian with Minor Injuries

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a school bus crash that left a 16 year old pedestrian with minor injuries Monday morning in Hicksville.

According to the Defiance Post, the crash happened at approximately 7:28 a.m. on August 31 on East High Street near Columbus Street in the Village of Hicksville.

Troopers say 58 year old Brian L. Zeedyk of Hicksville was driving a 2025 Blue Bird School Bus #7 southwest on East High Street when a 16 year old pedestrian traveling northeast attempted to cross the roadway.

The pedestrian stepped in front of the school bus and was struck.

The teen was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released. Zeedyk was not injured.

The Highway Patrol says alcohol and drug impairment are not suspected. Zeedyk was also wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash.

The Hicksville Police Department, Hicksville Fire and EMS and Hicksville Village School assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to stop for school buses when flashing lights are visible and reminding pedestrians to look both ways before entering or crossing a roadway.
