Teddy Poppe Sentenced to 54 Months in Prison

CELINA — 48 year old Teddy A. Poppe was sentenced to 54 months in prison Wednesday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

Poppe received 36 months for felonious assault and 18 months for strangulation. The sentences will be served consecutively for a total of four and a half years. A domestic violence charge was merged with the other offenses for sentencing.

The charges stemmed from an incident on December 25, 2025, at a residence on Touvelle Street in Celina.

According to court documents, Celina Police were called to Mercer Health shortly after 11 p.m. for a report of a woman who had been assaulted. An officer reported that the woman suffered serious injuries, including an injured jaw, swelling to her face and redness on her neck.

The woman told police that Poppe slammed her head against a couch, punched her and strangled her while threatening to kill her.

Poppe was initially charged with felonious assault on December 29. The case was later transferred to Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
