Pilot Seriously Injured, Two Children Hurt in Troy Skypark Plane Crash

TROY — One person suffered life-threatening injuries and two children were hurt when a small plane crashed Wednesday night at Troy Skypark in Miami County.

The Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. September 9 in Monroe Township.

A preliminary investigation determined that a single-engine Bellanca 7ECA struck a tree while approaching the runway.

The pilot, 49-year-old Troy J. Hahn of Troy, suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported by CareFlight to Premier Health Miami Valley Hospital.

Two 6-year-old passengers aboard the plane sustained minor injuries. They were taken by ground ambulance to Premier Health Upper Valley Medical Center.

The patrol was assisted at the scene by the Tipp City Fire and Emergency Services Department, Troy Fire Department, CareFlight and the Miami County Sheriff’s Office.

The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration have been notified.

The crash remains under investigation.
