Payton Mabry, 18, of St. Marys, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 9, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family who cherished her beyond words.

Born with Sanfilippo Syndrome (MPS), Payton faced challenges throughout her life that most people could never imagine. Yet, despite all that her condition took from her, it could never take away the light she brought into the lives of those who loved her. She was a true ball of sunshine; sweet, joyful, and deeply loved.

Payton loved to sing and dance. Her music and dancing brought happiness to those around her, and her beautiful spirit could light up a room. Even when her illness eventually made it impossible for her to do the things she once loved, the joy she had given to others remained. She had a way of reminding everyone that happiness can be found in the simplest moments and that love can be felt without saying a word.

She leaves behind her loving mother, Tiffany Mabry (father figure and best friend Coy Peters); sister, Avery Mabry; brother, Tre' Mabry; step-siblings Clay Peters and Harmony Peters; grandmother, Patty Mabry; great-grandmother, Betty Slone; uncle, Mike and Abby Mabry; and uncle, Travis and Janice Mabry, all of St. Marys, Ohio; grandparents Amy (Mike) Brewster of Uniopolis, OH; Larry (Trish) Peters of Bardstown, KY; special family friend Ashtyn Cramer

She will also be forever remembered and deeply missed by her many cousins, who loved her so very much. She was not simply their cousin, she was a precious part of their lives and their family, and the memories they made with her will remain in their hearts forever.

Although her life was far too short, Payton touched more lives than she could ever have known. Her strength, her smile, her laughter, and her beautiful spirit will live on in everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

She fought a brave battle her entire life, and now she can finally rest peacefully.

Fly high, sweet girl! You were loved beyond measure, and you always will be.

Rites are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday September 17, 2026 at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West) in St. Marys, with Pastor Robert Warren, officiating. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home on Celina Road.
