Minster Council Approves Sidewalk Assessments and School Land Exchange

Minster Village Council has approved nearly $155,000 in special assessments connected to the village’s 2026 sidewalk repair project.

Village Administrator Don Harrod said council gave the ordinance its third and final reading. Affected property owners have 45 days to pay their share. Any unpaid balance will be placed on property tax bills over five years.

Council also finalized a land exchange agreement with the Minster Local School District. The district will transfer approximately 11.4 acres near Four Seasons Park to the village in exchange for 7.3 acres at Seventh Street Community Park.

The agreement would provide the school district with land for a possible expansion of the middle school. Council also authorized the mayor to sign the transfer documents.

In other business, council gave first reading to an ordinance confirming the names of Midway Drive and Industrial Drive to make village records consistent with Auglaize County’s 911 addressing system.

Council also approved an agreement with Choice One Engineering for design work on proposed extensions of Sixth and Jefferson streets. The $105,500 contract covers plans to extend Jefferson Street from Fifth Street to Sixth Street and Sixth Street from Garfield Street to Hamilton Street.

Minster received more than $445,000 in income tax revenue during August. Collections for the year totaled approximately $3.34 million, which Harrod said is in line with recent years.
