St. Marys Announces Dates and Guidelines for Annual Fall Clean Up

The City of St. Marys has announced the schedule for its annual Fall Clean Up, with curbside collections planned for October 19, October 26 and November 2.

The October 19 collection will be available only to Thursday refuse customers. Tuesday refuse customers will receive collection October 26, while Monday and Wednesday refuse customers will be served November 2.

All eligible items must be placed at the curb by 6 a.m. on the scheduled collection date. Crews will visit each residence only once, and items should not be placed outside more than 24 hours before collection. Regular household trash will not be accepted through the Fall Clean Up program.

Each residence may discard up to 60 cubic feet of material. The limit will be strictly enforced, and city personnel will mark ineligible items with spray paint.

Items must be bagged, boxed or bundled so they can be handled by one person. Building materials must be contained in bundles or packages measuring no more than two feet by two feet. Each residence is limited to one large household item, such as a chair, recliner, dresser or couch. Empty cardboard boxes must be broken down.

The city will not collect appliances, automotive parts, batteries, metal fencing, bricks, stone, drywall, concrete, gasoline tanks, metal swing sets, tires, loose wood, skids, railroad ties, water heaters, toilets, sinks, carpet, mattresses, box springs, televisions, pianos, sectionals, yard waste or tree limbs.

Other excluded items include pool liners, glass windows or doors, reclining and hide-a-bed couches, tiles, shingles, transmissions and motor blocks. Hazardous materials will also not be accepted.

The city will not make return trips for items missed because they were placed at the curb late or did not meet collection requirements.
