23-Year-Old Spencerville Woman Held Without Bond in Auglaize County Vehicular Assault Case

Spencerville Woman Remains in Custody During Competency Proceedings

A Spencerville woman facing aggravated vehicular assault and other charges remains in custody as competency proceedings continue in Auglaize County Common Pleas Court.

Addison Rene Donaghey was indicted in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred March 15 in Auglaize County. The current indictment charges her with four third-degree felony counts of aggravated vehicular assault, four first-degree misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle under the influence and one second-degree felony count of felonious assault.

The OVI counts include allegations involving impairment and prohibited concentrations of alcohol, marijuana or a marijuana metabolite. Donaghey has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

An original indictment filed in June was dismissed without prejudice after prosecutors filed a new indictment in July containing the same nine charges.

Judge Frederick Pepple ordered a psychological evaluation in August to examine Donaghey’s competency to stand trial and her mental condition at the time of the alleged offenses. The criminal proceedings were stayed while the evaluation was completed.

According to a motion filed by prosecutors, Donaghey was remanded to the Auglaize County Correctional Center following an October 2 competency hearing while awaiting an available bed at Northwest Ohio Psychiatric Hospital.

Prosecutors alleged Donaghey refused to submit to a drug screening after arriving at the jail and asked the court to revoke her bond. Pepple ruled October 6 that the request was moot because Donaghey’s bond had already been terminated October 2.

No additional hearing date was listed in the available court records.

The charges are allegations. Donaghey is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
