Coldwater’s Froning and Minster’s Voisard qualify for OHSAA golf state tournaments

The Ohio High School Athletic Association golf state tournaments begin Sunday, with two golfers from Mercer and Auglaize counties competing for individual state championships.

Coldwater sophomore Alyssa Froning qualified for the Division II girls state tournament after shooting an 87 and earning the Northwest District’s second individual qualifying spot.

Froning will begin the two-day tournament Sunday at 10:20 a.m. from the No. 10 tee on the Fazio Course at Firestone Country Club in Akron. The Division II girls tournament concludes Monday. ohsaa.org

Minster senior Max Voisard will compete in the Division III boys state tournament after shooting a 76 and claiming the Southwest District’s top individual qualifying position.

Voisard’s two-day tournament begins Monday at NorthStar Golf Club in Sunbury and concludes Tuesday. ohsaa.org

Firestone will also host the Division II boys tournament beginning Sunday. The Division I girls and boys tournaments begin Monday at NCR Country Club in Kettering.

NorthStar has hosted a division of the OHSAA boys golf state tournament each year since 2013.
