Shawnee Township trustees dismiss charges against fire chief

Shawnee Township trustees dismiss charges against fire chief

According to The Lima News, Shawnee Township trustees have dismissed all four administrative charges filed against Fire Chief Austin Miller.

Trustees considered the charges during a hearing Tuesday night. One charge involved allegations that a data-destroying program had been installed on Miller’s computer. That charge was dismissed after the program was not found.

The remaining three charges involved alleged criminal conduct and violations of township policies. Those charges were dismissed because Miller was not properly served with them.

Township rules required the charges to be delivered to Miller in person. Instead, they were sent through certified mail in May.

Miller had been placed on administrative leave while the allegations were under review. He is now expected to return to his position as Shawnee Township fire chief.
