MONROE TOWNSHIP PLANS NEW PUBLIC SAFETY TRAINING COMPLEX

A new fire training center is planned for Monroe Township as the local fire department responds to continued growth and increased demand for emergency services.

The department reports a 12 percent increase in calls during the past 12 months. Call volume increased by 16 percent in areas near data centers, where large construction projects have also created additional public safety concerns.

A $320,000 grant from Williams will help move the township’s long-planned public safety training complex closer to reality.

Monroe Township Assistant Fire Chief Josh Harrison said the facility is expected to provide training opportunities for the local department and emergency personnel throughout the region.
