Ohio political leaders condemn gubernatorial attack advertisement
Republican and Democratic leaders in Ohio are condemning a new campaign advertisement targeting Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton.
The advertisement features Acton’s estranged mother disputing her daughter’s previous accounts of sexual assault and an abusive childhood.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy confirmed the advertisement was produced by his campaign. He said Acton’s mother was not paid to participate.
Ramaswamy’s campaign is reportedly spending $4 million to air the advertisement statewide.
Leaders from both political parties have criticized the personal nature of the advertisement. Ramaswamy’s campaign said the ad will continue to run.
