Two Killed in Scioto County Crash

Two people were killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on State Route 73 in Washington Township, near West Portsmouth.

Authorities identified the victims as 66-year-old Christina Madden and 7-year-old Alannah Madden. Both were pronounced dead at the scene after their sedan was struck by a pickup truck.

The pickup driver, 26-year-old John Mahle Jr. of Lucasville, survived. Authorities say charges against him are unlikely because the sedan failed to yield the right of way.

State Route 73 was closed for several hours. The crash remains under investigation.
