The death of a 20-year-old Wright State University student who immigrated to Springfield has been ruled a suicide.
Acting Clark County Coroner Aamir Khan issued the ruling in the death of Pierre Damas Bel, according to the Ohio News Network.
Bel moved to Springfield two years ago to join family and had recently begun classes at Wright State.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Bel was placed on an ankle monitor after Temporary Protected Status ended in July. His death subsequently became part of the broader immigration debate.
The report did not establish that any single circumstance caused his death.
