Vantage Board Accepts Turner’s Retirement, Approves Superintendent Search

The Vantage Career Center Board of Education has accepted Superintendent Rick Turner’s resignation for retirement and approved assistance with finding his successor.

Turner will retire July 31, 2027, at the end of his current contract. During Thursday’s meeting, the board approved a contract with the Celina-based Grand Lake Regional Educational Service Center to assist with the superintendent search. The agreement calls for a flat fee of $5,000, payable when the search concludes.

Turner graduated from Vantage’s machine tool technology program in 1979 and became superintendent in 2017. Before returning to Vantage, he worked at Apollo Career Center, including more than 11 years as director of adult programs.

The board also discussed continuing construction delays at the Vantage Academy of Medical Careers in the former Thomas Edison building across from the main campus.
