Faber Thanks Local Voters, Plans Return to Law Practice After Attorney General Loss

CELINA — Ohio Auditor Keith Faber says he will return to practicing law in Mercer County after narrowly losing the race for Ohio attorney general.

Unofficial statewide results show Democrat John Kulewicz defeating Faber with 50.31% of the vote. Kulewicz received 2,285,117 votes, while Faber received 2,256,710, a difference of 28,407 votes.

Faber received strong support in his home county, carrying Mercer County with 15,020 votes, or 83.3%. Kulewicz received 3,011 votes in the county.

“I do want to thank everybody who supported me,” Faber said. “I’m honored to have the support of these communities because I have my entire career.”

Faber said his campaign received strong support across the state and described the final margin as less than three votes per precinct. However, he acknowledged that he will not be Ohio’s next attorney general.

“Unfortunately, we weren’t successful,” Faber said. “And that means we’ve got to look at other options.”

Faber said one of those options will be continuing his legal career with Faber and Associates in Mercer County.

Before leaving office in January, Faber said he intends to finish his term as state auditor and prepare Republican Frank LaRose to assume the position. LaRose narrowly won the auditor’s race over Democrat Annette Blackwell.

Faber also said he plans to remain active in the local community following the conclusion of his statewide service.

The November 3 election results remain unofficial until they are certified. ohiosos.gov
