Killer of Logan County man sentenced to life in prison

The man who pleaded guilty to shooting 45 year old Jeffrey Brentlinger to death at his home in rural Zanesfield on Thanksgiving of last year has been sentenced to life in prison. 22 year old Marquevous Watkins of Lima was sentenced this week in Logan County common pleas court. He will be eligible for parole in 18 years. Brentlinger's body was discovered by his daughter on Thanksgiving morning. Watkins and 4 other suspects fled the scene but were captured within days. There were no signs of forced entry. Several of the people had been guests in Brentlinger's home. A video surveillance system captured footage of the crime. Two other trials for suspects in the case will be held this summer. There are also 2 juvenile suspects. Logan County officials are seeking to try these 2 suspects as adults.
